Well if this doesn't beat all. On sunday I took Fred and Scott into the mighty Whisp. Neither of them were willing to admit that the crappie minnows they brought should have been left at the bait shop.
We started out working the areas. No fish here ,1 crappie there,a bluegill here.Spot after spot all I was hearing was are you sure you do not need a minnow out there? Well we ended up down to the last spot and there they were.Triple after triple they came.Scott does something I've never seen before. He casts up to the shore and immeadiatly sets the hook. A huge Buffalo Head gets snagged in the tail and the fight starts. The first thing that fish did was run acroos the water 15 feet like a tarpon would do. Well after 20 minutes ole Scott was shifting the rod from hand to hand, shaking the other hand getting blood back in as numbness was setting in.He is a big guy too!I kept laying on a ration of hard times until we boated it with no net.Took some pics so when I get this roll developed ,I'll post them. Keep in mind he had 2 test line and an ultra light rod.I have to give it up to him. What a battle! It was fun listening to him recant the fight afterward during dinner. Thanks to Fred and Scott for a very different outting!Poor Scott spanking his head casting his weighted cork. For a bald guy with knots on his mellon,he took it all in stride.
1 more thing,Scott caught that monster on my little jig,NO stinking minnows!!

CK,
So much for not fishing Sunday and taking a day off, huh. It sounds like the trip was worth it, after a fight like that with a monster. I just wanted to say thanks again for taking me out Saturday.
