Nice try Fireball. I have been trying to figure out a way to get those lurkers to join. I have been getting a lot of lookers in the past several months. I even get people that sign up the registration but then never post. Not sure what the deal is there.
Out of everyone that has joined since 2003 it breaks down like this...
25% never posted 50% posted once 15% posted 5 times or less 10% post all the time
Go figure. This includes users before the database crash.
No program running as guest. At the bottom of the forum, what you see is what you get. It shows everyone who is logged in or visiting. Everyone who is just looking (ie. not registered or haven't logged in) are designated as guests. If you had 3 users logged in and 6 guests, it would show each user and 6 guests like this...
guest guest WebDude guest Fireball guest guest Hemmer Time guest
At times, I will see up to 10 or 15 guests. At first I thought my code broke but after inspecting the log files, it appears that yes, there are that many guests looking at once. Mostly they go to the forum and (believe it or not) they go to the DNR page. A lot of them go into the chat room but you need to be logged on for that to work. Still they try.
Anywayz..... any suggestions on getting these people more involved would be great. After the database crash, I am still short of users by about a hundred (pretty good though that I got that many to sign up again:-))
