A real time locator is very important during the summer .Your FL-8 or FL-18 can be used in the summer while trolloing, drifting or anchored. I took a 4" black rubber suction cup and made a little bracket which bolts into the cup backing. I used electrical tape to secure it to the transducer or ice ducer. The cup sticks to the transom below water. It can go from boat to boat, very versatile. It replaced my Eagle pro I.D. There is 3 seconds between how the 2 read the bottom. The Eagle let me get off of the break wereas the FL-8 shows me the the depth in real time keeping me closer to the break instead of spending all of my time just getting back to it.I have caught more walleyes more often with my 8 vs.any other locator I've used while trolling. It would be a crying shame to only use it during the winter as it will put more fish on your stringer.
