Drove by the pond on Saturday and the bays are nearly ice free. With the warm weather and wind, the ice should be gone by the end of the week! Hows the conditions in your area?

Hey LSF,

Welcome Back. Been a while. By the pond, do you mean Mille Lacs? Locally the ice went of of my local lake last week. The winds are doing their thing. Might try to get some of those ice-out crappies this weekend.

Rainy River has been open for a little over 2 weeks. 4 mile bays is wide open and its open water about a miles or so into Lake of the Woods. Although the Rainy has muddied up and the fish haven't been cooperating. Heard reports that the forks and Manitou levels are receding which means the river will start clearing up. We might end up with a couple of fishable days before the season ends.

Probably right but someone told me there was still ice on it last friday. Hate to drag the boat out there to find ice on it. Of course I could launch the boat anyway and break it up :-)

WebDude, our contact says that Bald Eagle is indeed open and 4 boats were spotted cruising the lake yesterday.

We're going to try and get out there this Friday (if I can get off work early).

I might give it a whirl on Saturday with the kids. With this warm weather, things should be going pretty good.
