Just thought it might be a cool way to see what everyone does, get to know some folks a bit better.

Myself, I own a new home warranty management company- Mid-State Home Services.

What do I do?

Well, when a builder sells a new home, I do a walk-through with the home owner, along with a home orientation, I compile a punchlist of things that need to be addressed (drywall repairs, paint touch ups, items that need repair or completion) and arrange the appropriate subcontractor to complete the task. I also manage the first year of the builder's warranty for them, dealing with sending out the appropriate subcontractor to fix issues that may arise. It is a great deal for the builder, realtors involved, and the homeowner. It gives the homeowner the sense that they are being taken care of yet doesnt tie up the builder's job supervisors or realtors or other staff with warranty issues.

Other than that, I think about fishing alot...lol

Next?

Jim

I am a Web Developer/Database Administator/IT Manager. I happen to love fishing and decided to see if I could build something worthwhile using the talents I have.

I host email servers, databases, websites, etc. Most of it is corporate stuff. I work a lot with SQL, .asp, .net, Witango, javascript, css, etc. I host my own DNS so I don't have to rely on providers for pointing. I got a beam pointed at my building from the IDS tower. I also have a Class C block. I do SEO work for several companies and I have been relatively successful at it.

If you want any help with web, email, database stuff... shoot me an email.

Some stuff for you to look at that may be pertinent...

I work for a commercial flooring company. We mostly concentrate on carpet and Vinyl Composition Tile (VCT). We are in Bloomington and have about 30 union installers. I look forward to seeing what everyone else does.

Wow 'Dude... sounds like a full plate.

I pretty much do what WebDude does minus the web development. I work for a company with about a hundred workstations and several servers. I do network and database administration along with the general IT stuff. Never really looked into building web sites, but it sounds like it might be fun.

I am a retired tv producer. I produced the Don Shelby Bass Tournament for 5 years. I also did the tv for the KFAN tournaments, the Bass Blitz, and the St. Judes tournament, and for the walleye folks, I produced the MWC World Championship. I still kept a hand in tv, ok it's more like a little finger. I live in the Twin Cities and like fishing around the the cities, with a trip or two " up north".

Own Silverton Software, Inc. We are similar in nature to what WebDude does, basically a full-service IT consulting firm, with divisions that do Fortune 500 work (business application engineering and development), Small office/Home office web development (i.e. the Ma and Pa shops), and we run a data center and hosting operation (Silverton Software is an actual ISP with our own servers, network equipment, and bandwidth, unlike most IT firm which contract with places like us to put their websites and applications on).

We currently have 338 live websites, and about a dozen large business applications that we build, maintain, and host. It is a tremendous amount of fun, but more hard work than I ever imagined!

A sampling of some of our creations: http://www.silvertonsoftware.com/portfolio

To make this even more fun, I make sure to include some showcase outdoors-related sites among our portfolio. www.fishermanslog.com is getting a new facelift to be deployed in May, and we are now in the process of turning www.catch-n.com into an awesome showcase fishing site, that will be completed in about 4 weeks.

I'm a lawyer, I am in a firm with one other person who also loves to fish (its a wonder either one of us are ever at the ofc.). I joined w/him last July after spending 6 years working in a firm w/about 10 lawyers, finally got the courage to go out on my own. I do primarily corporate bankruptcy (creditors, bankruptcy trustees and corporate debtors) and commercial litigation. I have represented some individual debtors before, so Musky Bandit if you have any deadbeats who live in South Fla. I might have represented them, or I might have represented the bankruptcy trustee if they filed.
